Over 30 Chicagoland schools.

More than 5,000 children.

One goal: Changing the way our children eat

Purple Asparagus

Learning to expect the unexpected. Getting our hands dirty. Best of all, sharing nourishing, whole foods that are good for our bodies and the planet.

Let’s face it. Many of the schoolchildren in Chicago don’t have the opportunity to walk through the local farmer’s market and take in the tantalizing smells, vibrant colors and meaningful relationships that come with local, seasonal eating. We believe that every child should have the chance to discover new-to-them wholesome foods that will change the way they think about eating.

Every day, Purple Asparagus strives to teach children across the Chicagoland area to enjoy food that’s healthy for the planet and for their bodies, incorporating fruits, vegetables and whole grains for a healthy lifestyle – and bringing whole families together back around the table.
